In celebration of National Carer’s Week, we were delighted to hold our annual ‘Lunch in the Garden’ fundraising gala at the beautiful and relaxing Garden Rooms at Tennants, Leyburn. The event was a huge success, raising much needed funding for our activities and programmes to support unpaid carers and raising our profile with future supporters of our work.
Guests were treated to fantastic talks from Mrs Margaret Sentamu, Her Majesty’s Deputy Lord-Lieutenant of North Yorkshire, joined by Stella Exley (Hare Spring Cottage Plants / RHS Chelsea Flower Show Exhibitor) and Josef Faulkner (mental health professional, campaigner and inspirational ex-young carer).
We extend our thanks on behalf of our service users to Tennants for hosting us, our guest speakers, the fundraising committee and staff who helped plan and run the event and our amazing photographers, Ken and Maren Nash who all generously agreed to help with the event for free (the full photo gallery from the event can be viewed here).
Hambleton & Richmondshire Carers Centre supports unpaid carers and the funds raised from this event will go towards supporting our charity to continue our essential and highly valued work. The value of unpaid care in the UK is £32 billion and it is charities like ours that care and support the often invisible family and friends looking after their loved ones.
If you are interested in supporting our activities, please visit our supporter page to find out more about how you can get involved, or contact us for an informal chat.
With warmest regards and heartfelt thanks for continuing to support our charity,
Helen Hunter, CEO
